FAQ'S
How much should I water my plants?
A plant’s watering needs vary greatly depending on the type of plant, weather, the soil and sight conditions and many other variables including the season. Another factor in determining watering needs is whether it is newly planted or an established plant. We often recommend a moisture meter for determining more precisely when it is time to water. For more specific information we are happy to answer your questions anytime by phone, email, or in person. We will need to know the type of plant, exposure; sun/shade and soil to give you a well informed answer.
When do you close for the season?
We do not! EXCEPT… some Holiday time with our families: 11/21-11/25 and 12/22-1/1. HOURS are always available on our website at www.plantingthefuture.com
We stay open through the entire year. Our hours are posted as “by chance or appointment” due to weather conditions, however we are here most days at least until 3:00 and we are happy to help you with your yard needs. We also sell calcium chloride and salt through the winter. While many Garden Centers are selling out we have plants 365 days a year.
How and when to cut back ornamental grasses?
This can be done anytime late Fall into Early Spring. It is best to allow the grass to become completely dry before cutting it back. This allows for the old growth to feed the new growth for the next season. Often the dry foliage offers a nice appearance through the winter.
What to do about Deer eating and/or damaging my landscape?
As you may know Deer are out and munching on whatever they can get to. We have several preventatives to choose from; Green Screen Bags, Deer Scram and Liquid Fence are good options for this time of the year.
